SHAELENE
ARTISTIC BIOGRAPHY
Shaelene Moss has been singing since the age of 3. She has gained credible recognition as a vocalist not only throughout her native island of Jamaica [parishes: Manchester, Kingston, St. Ann and St. Mary] but also Alabama, New York, Michigan and South Carolina for churches, weddings, concerts and competitions. Throughout high school and college Shaelene has sung in numerous groups: choirs, duets and trios etc.
Shaelene had been exposed to theatrical productions that allowed her to formulate a Broadway but soulful ballad voice. Her earlier influences where: Celine Dion, Nat King Cole, and Mariah Carey. This later expanded to Diana King, Tracy Chapman and even Alanis Morresett.
Shaelene’s minor in piano and major in voice at Talladega College, supplied her with a formal training that stretched her capabilities from classical, jazz, leider to spirituals. Here she learnt the theoretical/technical aspect of music, music scoring and gained an ear for pitch and intricate harmonies that helped her songwriting.
Shaelene’s style would be best described as “Eclectic,” and simply original.
Shaelene is a vocalist who can write, sing-j/d.j. and even rap.
*Shaelene has 1 ½ year of studio recording experience.
*Shaelene has been compared to a smooth tonal cross between Toni Braxton [range], Celine Dion [tone, style], Mariah Carey [style, tone] and Alanis Morrsett [style]. On the other side of the world, her classical comparison is to Denyce Grave and reggae comparison is to Nadine Sutherland & Diana King.
Shaelene’s music would most reflect: ballads, R&B, jazz, classical, rock, hip- hop, reggae and dancehall.
*Shaelene has been writing songs since the age of 14. A sample of
“If You Say,” which she also produced and arranged can be heard on a demo.
* Opened for: General Degree [Jamaica’s well known D.J.] @ Tastee Talent Show 1997 accompanied by Fab 5 Jamaica’s best island band
* Opened for: Cash Money former recording artist Juvenile in Talladega, Alabama 2000

To Whom It May Concern:
My major in voice and minor in piano at Talladega College in Alabama have allowed me to expand my capabilities from R&B to Leider music. I have learned the theoretical/ technical aspect of music such as music scoring and music analysis. Having been a part of the classical choir, I gained an ear for intricate harmonies that helped my songwriting skills. Whereas, my minor in classical piano has given me training that will help me to contribute to the production and/or the arrangement of music, as portrayed in the ballad, "If You Say."
I am a diverse individual with plans to focus on R&B and then expand to soft/hard rock, hip-hop, classical, black art songs and reggae/dancehall. I am a hard worker who is willing to accept constructive criticism, share creativity, and increase my limits, whether to modeling or acting.
I believe with my determination and proper assistance, if given the chance, I can be an asset to the music industry. I assure you that I will meet your standards while trying to exceed my own. I not only consider myself a vocalist but also a songwriter. Therefore, I am willing to write songs for or with other people. I want to use my capabilities to be a positive influence on people.
Thusly, my goals without action are just cloudy dreams; please do not let my goals be only dreams. Allow this seed a chance to grow and flourish in the sun, as you have been given the chance.
If any additional information is needed such as a location for an upcoming performance, please feel free to contact me at (803) 732-4585.
Sincerely,
Shaelene Calhoun
